Human Resources Training:
HR for the Non HR Manager

Many people need to be involved in the recruitment process without actually being in the HR Department. From recognising there is a need or vacancy, to describing the skills, capabilities and experience required for the successful applicant to perform their role at the level required, participating in the interviewing process and negotiating the contract.

This is a three-day detailed process development and documentation program of the recruitment, selection, induction and probation process. This workshop will walk participants through the hiring process, from performing a skills inventory to conducting the interview; discuss orientation; and cover some issues that arise after the hiring process (such as diversity issues, compensation, and discipline).

Highlights of what participants will learn:

  • The traditional process and latest trends in the recruitment process and the role of managers in that process;

  • How to write effective job specifications and identify core competencies;

  • Methods of finding, selecting, and keeping the best people using a variety of selection techniques including behavioural and descriptive interviewing techniques, evidence based observation and others;

  • How to get employees off to a good start;

  • How to deal with compensation and benefits;

  • How to maintain healthy employee relations;

  • How to make performance appraisals a cooperative process.

If you participate in the recruitment process (recognise a vacancy in your department, describe the capabilities required for the role, participate in selection and negotiation of contract), or want to create a consistent recruitment, selection, induction and probation methodology for your organisation, this is the program for you.
